Studies and research have shown the environment’s influence on the wellbeing of patients and staff in the health sector. When the public space can feel unsafe, how can we create a safe place for visitors? By designing with the patient in focus, we create waiting areas like a welcoming oasis, a home away from home using the power of biophilic design. A caring ambiance that draws people in, making people feel good when they’re there, and most of the time, the visitor might not be able to explain why they feel good. They know they do. We’re sharing our insights, experiences, and results from Green healthcare spaces worldwide to inspire you in your next healthcare project. From the smaller clinic to the entire hospital.
Together we make healthcare spaces matter.

Compared to furniture upholstered in artificial leather, which cracks and tears, hospital hygiene has improved. The benches are easy to clean. We have also noticed that nothing gets missed when the floors are washed, which shows that the benches can be separated and moved for cleaning in a way that meets our standards. The patients are also kept apart from each other a little, in that there is a set distance back-to-back. I am impressed!Marita Olsson, Infection Control Nurse, Region Skåne
