The impact of such experiential spaces is enormous, especially in medium-sized towns. They can redefine neighbourhoods, bring people back to the town centre and create a new sense of identity. The Forum is not just a place of consumption, but a stage for urban life. It thus adds a modern, urban dimension to Wolfenbüttel's image, which until now has been strongly influenced by the historic old town.
Forum Wolfenbüttel has undergone a major refurbishment, transforming into a modern urban meeting place. As part of its repositioning as the “Gateway to the City,” developed by kplus konzept, an office for communication, interior design, and architecture, the shopping centre was reimagined as a vibrant connection point between the train station and the city centre. Green Furniture Concept was selected to help create places for lingering, connecting, and relaxing with sustainable furniture that contributes to the centre’s new identity.
The Challenge
The project’s goal was to craft a strong and differentiated identity that reflects the industrial character of the surrounding district, while also appealing to a young audience. The challenge was to develop a design concept that puts people at the centre. Additionally, the design needed to offer high durability and flexibility, while ensuring both beauty and functionality. A key challenge was extending the traditional, historic character of Wolfenbüttel’s old town with a bold, modern, and urban dimension.
The Solution
We delivered modular seating from the Nova C Series, seamlessly integrated into the industrial-inspired interior. The flowing lines of the benches guide visitors intuitively through the space, enhancing wayfinding. Integrated planters incorporate biophilic design elements, softening the architectural environment and creating a calming atmosphere. Our sustainable furniture became an essential part of the design narrative centered on urban mobility. The organic forms invite visitors to pause and relax, creating natural islands within the urban setting.
Sustainability was a core requirement in the collaboration with kplus konzept. Their focus on long-lasting, future-proof materials meant selecting products already designed with sustainability in mind. The Nova C Series met these criteria perfectly: each component can be individually replaced or refurbished, making the system not only functional but also highly durable, avoiding the need to replace entire units over time. This design-for-longevity approach ensures that the furniture maintains its value and usability even in high-traffic environments.
In line with this philosophy, the Nova C Series is made from wood from responsibly managed forests and manufactured entirely in Sweden. Its legs are made from 100% recycled steel and are powder-coated with zero chemicals from the SIN list, ensuring safety for people and the planet. Additionally, some elements, such as OceanIX panels, are made from 100% recycled HDPE plastic sourced from discarded fishing nets, further reinforcing the commitment to circularity and material transparency.
The success of this implementation was driven by the collaboration with kplus konzept’s interior design team, which proved to be smooth, proactive, and highly professional, ensuring that design intent and functionality were fully realised.
Impact & Results
The revitalised Forum now stands as a space that functions not only as a retail destination but also as a dynamic urban hub for connection and experiences. The integration of our solutions highlights the successful combination of function, sustainability, and visual storytelling, making a lasting contribution to the city’s development.
Conclusion
Overall, the Forum Wolfenbüttel project exemplifies how sustainable design can play a central role in successful repositioning and urban revitalisation. We are proud to be part of this visionary concept and to work with strong partners, co-creating places that inspire, connect, and endure.

Green Retail Spaces
We turn retail spaces into community places. We use the principle of biophilic design to create welcoming environments where shoppers are encouraged to stay for a while and experience their surroundings at a slower pace. After all, longer dwell times are correlated to greater spending.
